The first adventure was an escape from the high tech world way back in 1995. Bruce opened a retail store in Tarpon Springs, Florida focused on outdoor and backpacking gear. I know backpacking in FL??? Bruce has always been a “Gear Head” and a great researcher. What better way to get the best gear!
Thus, Outgear Adventure, Inc. was born.
Well it was fun while it lasted, but after closing the business and working at Eastern Mountain Sports for several years it was back to the high tech world and a move from Portland, ME to Portland, OR where he met… Joyce in 2002.
Joyce worked at Nike helping create and transition product data systems. We had lots of similar experiences in our careers and lots of the same interests. Music, art, travel, photography and spending time in the outdoors. We spent quality time with our two kids, Ian and Megan in our first RV, a 1993 30′ Safari Kalahari. We enjoyed traveling with family, including a 5-week RV adventure to Alaska in 2006.
Fast forward to 2016… we are starting our next adventure and leaving two of Oregon’s largest employers, Nike and Intel behind to live more simply in a 2007 40′ Tiffin Allegro Bus and to travel the world by land, sea and air. Oh and by the way, Bruce is still a gearhead. Stay tuned…
